Which Famous Actor Got Paid In Weed For An Early Horror Movie Role?

Did five-time Emmy winner John Larroquette get paid in weed for his narration work in 1974’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

One of the oldest rumors in showbiz was finally confirmed by Larroquette himself in a recent interview with Parade.

“Totally true,” Larroquette said. “[Director Tobe Hooper] gave me some marijuana or a matchbox or whatever you called it in those days. I walked out of the [recording] studio and patted him on the back side and said, ‘Good luck to you!'”

Larroquette, who would go on to achieve fame for his role in the classic sitcom Night Court, admits that he’s “not a big horror movie fan” and has not seen any of the Texas Chainsaw films, but he was happy to do a favor for friend (and score some weed).

Although The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was filmed on an extremely low budget, it would go on to become one of the most iconic horror films of all time, with several sequels and remakes.

Larroquette reprised his narration role for Netflix’s 2022 sequel, creatively entitled Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Unfortunately [spoiler alert], the movie was a total dud, which critics and horror fans alike were all too happy to lambast as a complete waste of their time.

Larroquette, meanwhile, has moved onto other projects included a new reboot of Night Court.
