Can You Use Goldenseal to Beat a Drug Test?

Most people will try anything when scrambling to beat a drug test. It’s not a fun time, and it can cause some serious anxiety. If you are down to the wire and looking for a natural remedy to beat a drug test, there are plenty of home remedies you can try. Does goldenseal help pass a drug test? Read on to learn about this herb and what it can do to help you flush your system with a goldenseal detox.

What is Goldenseal?

Goldenseal is a perennial herb belonging to the buttercup family. It ranks as one of the most beneficial herbal medicines for its multifaceted ability to fight infections, reduce inflammation, and support healthy detox. The leaves and roots are used to make teas, capsules, salves, and even poultices.

You can also find goldenseal on the ingredient list is tons of over-the-counter products. It's often added to allergy medication, ear drops, laxatives, and cold and flu medicine, among other things. Goldenseal contains high concentrations of three alkaloid compounds—berberine, hydrastine, and canadine. Each of these directly contributes to many of goldenseal’s health benefits.

Top Benefits and Uses of Goldenseal

Goldenseal is prized for its many uses. Some of the most common applications are cold and flu remedies and fighting upper respiratory tract inflammation. You will often see it combined with echinacea for additional immune system support. Capsules and tinctures are the preferred formats.

Berberine attacks fungus and bacteria, so goldenseal is a trusted ingredient in many feminine products to fight yeast infections and urinary tract infections. It should be used with caution because goldenseal may also cause uterine contractions that present a danger for pregnant women.

Because of its powerful antibacterial qualities, goldenseal is an excellent choice for battling acne and tooth infections. Dab a bit on the skin to tackle acne, or swish an oral rinse to cleanse the mouth of bacteria.

The goldenseal doesn’t stop there. It fights harmful gut bacteria, reduces cholesterol, and lowers insulin resistance for folks with type 2 diabetes. But the reason you’re here is to find out if a goldenseal detox will help you pass a drug test.

Goldenseal Detox to Beat a Drug Test

Your body is constantly detoxing. Is there any truth behind a goldenseal detox helping you pass the test any faster? Some people say yes. Proponents of the goldenseal detox suggest that it acts as a diuretic to flush out toxins via urine. If the active drug metabolites are flushed right before the test, it’s believed that you can cheat the drug test.

However, some evidence suggests that goldenseal may limit the activity of liver enzymes that work to break down drugs in your body. In that case, goldenseal might actually slow down detox time and have no benefit for beating a drug test.

The truth of the matter is that anyone claiming to have passed a drug test using goldenseal could have very well gotten lucky. Or, perhaps it really did help them flush faster. Without any proof, we just don’t know

What are the Side Effects of Goldenseal?

Those attempting a goldenseal detox take tincture and capsules in large volumes to prepare for a drug test. More research is needed to understand the effects of a goldenseal detox. But, we do know that excessive use can lead to:

  • Constipation
  • Hallucinations/delirium
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Light sensitivity
  • Itching of the mouth and throat

Goldenseal is often combined with other ingredients when found in herbal capsules or tinctures, so you also need to be careful about the side effects of those ingredients.

Answered: WTF ... are Penis Envy Mushrooms?

Are Penis Envy Mushrooms Worth the Hype?

Penis envy mushrooms represent one of the world's most potent and widely used psilocybin mushroom strains. They are considered 2-3 times more potent than other strains of Psilocybe cubensis (cubes) and are mostly used for their therapeutic roles for addiction, mental health disorders, anxiety, and depression.

The name “Penis envy” originated from the unusual growth pattern of its fruiting body that looks like the penis. Contrary to some common myths about the strains, the name “penis envy” has nothing to do with the male reproductive system.

Different Strains of Weed: How Many Are There?

Sour Diesel. Purple Kush. Amnesia Haze. If you’re a fan of cannabis, you’ve probably noticed that there are many different types to choose from, and most of them have funny names. And yes—they are all different. But, what makes them different, exactly? And how many marijuana strains are there, really? Well, let’s find out.

What Are Cannabis Strains?

In popular culture, different cannabis cultivars are referred to as “strains.” Each individual strain is a cannabis variety that has been bred for its specific characteristics by a cannabis breeder. So, Granddaddy Purple is a strain. Harlequin is another strain. The former is a sleepy strain that produces a high percentage of the psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The latter is a mellow flower that produces both THC and cannabidiol (CBD). The plants both have different lineages and different characteristics. Hence, they are different strains.

But, the word “strain” comes with a fair share of controversy. From a scientific perspective, referring to cannabis varieties as “strains” makes very little sense. And yet, “strain” is the word that remains in popular culture. The difference is mainly semantic—in the world of botany, different plant varieties are called cultivars, not strains. The word “strains” is usually reserved for bacteria and viruses, not plants.
