110+ Years of New York Farming Prowess Goes into Ayrloom’s Cannabis Infused Products

Ayrloom Showcases What New York Cannabis Can Be
Ayrloom Showcases What New York Cannabis Can Be

The Beak & Skiff Apple Orchard, located in Lafayette, New York, has been a family-owned business since its inception in 1911. Over the past century, the Beak & Skiff family has demonstrated their unwavering commitment to agriculture and their community by continuously expanding and evolving their business to meet the moment and change with the times.

The orchard began as a small apple farm, but over time, the Beak & Skiff family has expanded their operations to include a general store, a distillery, a hemp farm and now a vertically integrated cannabis cultivation, manufacturing & distribution operation. Throughout this evolution, their commitment to sustainable agriculture has remained a top priority.

Around 2000’s, Beak & Skiff recognized an opportunity to branch out again and launched its 1911 Established line of Hard Ciders using apples grown on their farm. The Hard Cider quickly became such a hit that several years later in 2010 the family owned business jumped further into the spirits business with the launch of a small batch of premium vodka and gin. Today, they produce a wide range of spirits, including vodka, gin, and whiskey.

However, in 2018, the Beak & Skiff family decided to explore an even riskier evolution with the potential of hemp farming. After extensive research and testing, they successfully planted their first crop of hemp, which they now use to produce CBD oil and other hemp-based products. Their commitment to sustainable farming practices is evident in their use of regenerative agriculture techniques and their avoidance of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.

Building on the success of their hemp operation, Beak & Skiff recently made the decision to expand into cannabis. While the process of obtaining a license was a lengthy and complicated one, the family felt that it was important to explore this emerging market and meet the growing demand for legal cannabis products.

Beak & Skiff’s cannabis-centric brand is called, Ayrloom™, which is an homage to its family business spanning several generations as much as it denotes its traditional agricultural practices vs. large-scale commercial agriculture. Ayrloom™ offers a diverse line of infused products - including infused beverages, edibles, vapes, tinctures and balms - that appeal to a wider range of consumers.  Ayrloom™ products can now be found in dispensaries throughout New York State and hemp-infused products can be ordered directly from their website or in stores where available.

The Beak & Skiff family have demonstrated their ability to adapt and innovate throughout their history, and they are well-positioned to succeed in this new venture.

As the cannabis industry continues to grow and evolve, Beak & Skiff's commitment to sustainable agriculture and community engagement will remain a guiding force. By staying true to their values and partnering with like-minded businessesa and local organizations, they have positioned themselves as leaders in the cannabis industry and as a model for socially responsible business practices.

Ayrloom's Pink Grapefruit infused cannabis beverage is a refreshing and tangy option for those looking for a unique flavor profile that’s not so sweet. The tart grapefruit taste is spot on, and the 1:1 THC to CBD infusion provides a mild buzz that is perfect for a relaxing day. Overall, Ayrloom's Pink Grapefruit infused sparkling water is an excellent choice for those looking for a refreshing but less sweet tasting cannabis-infused beverage.

We learned that Ayrloom now has a new THC infused Lemonade that was released after our initial interview with CEO Eddie Brennan so we haven’t tried it yet. But if the other three flavors are any indication, this product is sure to be a crowd-pleaser as is or as part of a more complicated cocktail.

All of the flavors featured here are also available in hemp-derived and CBD-only options.
